Course PADI Junior Open Water Diver - This is the first full international diving certification that children can obtain starting from 10 years.
The training consists of three main phases:
1. Theoretical training (Knowledge Development). Studying five sections of the theoretical course, completing a test paper, taking a test and a final exam.
2. Pool Practice (Confined Water Dives). Completion of 5 practice sessions in confined water where 24 basic skills are practiced.
3. Open Water Dives. Certification is the final stage consisting of 4 dives in the sea, lake, river or ocean to prove the skills acquired in the pool.
10 to 11 years old maximum immersion depth - 12 meters. You may only dive when accompanied by a certified parent (guardian) or PADI professional (instructor/divemaster).
12 to 14 years old the maximum depth increases to 18 meters. Any certified adult diver may serve as a partner.
Once the basic Junior Open Water certificate has been achieved, children can continue on to the Junior Open Water course Junior Advanced Open Water, which is available from the age of 12. Allows you to dive to a depth of 21 meters.
When the child turns 15 years, The certificate automatically gives you the rights of an «adult» diver (to dive to a depth of 18 meters and above if you have special courses). You can simply order a new card without the «Junior» prefix via PADI official website.
